Transforming Oslo: New Art Gallery Concept Launches This Week with the opening show ”Surely hope that we can fix our differences soon”
Oslo as a Gallery is a new gallery concept aimed at bringing art to the streets of Oslo. This is the first of several planned shows that will display art on posters scattered throughout the city. By presenting art in this manner, we can reach a larger audience and give the art an opportunity to be shown outside traditional gallery spaces. The show opens on the 7th, and new posters will continue to be hung across the city for another week. Once installed, the art will remain on display for as long as the posters endure.
The first show, titled “Surely Hope That We Can Fix Our Differences Soon,” transforms the city into a battlefield through four works that explore the complexities and ironies of war. With this collection, viewers are invited to reflect on the complex economic and political forces driving warfare, highlighting the human cost.
"We are expecting record-breaking crowds in the thousands at the opening of the show. By displaying art this way, we are able to reach people who are both interested in art and those who might not normally attend art shows.”
